3D graph cannot be display.

$

I had installed Mathcad 15M010 onto windows 8.

Everything seem to work ok.

The only problem is with the graph. I cannot get the graph to display on screen.

I only get one tiny square box after I clicked on the 3D graph.

2D graph is ok.

Crazy ugly formatting

This is probably simple. Every since upgrading to Mathcad Prime, things like large parentheses and integrals do not show on the screen as smooth curves (like is true in Mathcad 15) but instead appear are discontinuous line segments with curves on the end -- sort of like one tried tried to mimic them on a typewriter. Is this "normal" behavior?

Large symbolic results

One may get a result when solving an equation symbolically with a message that says "result to large to display, but can be used in subsequent

calculations if assigned to a function or variable".   How does one go about doing this?

For example:  E(p)^1/3 -p-(1-p)*E(p) = 0 solve, E(p)

The above error message is received.

wierd graph bug in 15.0?

Hi,

I've got a simple sheet that ends up with a single graph.  All of the values being graphed are the same, 19.486.  When i graph it i get crazy numbers on my y-axis.  Whats the deal?

If i set the y-axis bounds (e.g. 20 & -20) the scale "settles down" and looks normal.

best regards,

russ

Hi everyone,

Is it possible to convert a mathcad prime 3.0 file to 2.0? Because when i try, i can't open a 3.0 file in Mathcad 2.0.

And if not. Do you think PTC will fix the problem and make it possible to open 3.0 files in v2.0?

Hi There,

I have downloaded and installed MathCAD prime 3 on my PC running Wondows 7 Pro 64 bit for evaluation purposes.

After approximately 30-40 minutes working in MathCAD my whole PC freezes. Nothing works anymore, no response from KB mouse or other in/output devices.

The only way to get going is to power the pc down and restart.

This has now happend 4 times in a row.

The crashing only happens when I run MathCAD prime 3.

Does anyone have a solution??

I can not send a message to mathCAD support as I did not buy a licence, pretty stupid rule if you ask me (at least when you want to win new customers).

PTC support, please get me an answer to solve this problem

Issues with Embedded MS Objects (Excel, Powerpoint)

Greetings,

My company uses Mathcad for a lot of our calculations and we've developed some standards over the years.  One of those standards was the use of embedded excel objects to serve as a header/footer for our calculations (I know that there is a built in header/footer, but it lacks Aesthetics, Flexibility, and Convenience).

There is the dilemma: more often than not, especially with Excel 2013, numerous popup windows and excel windows pop up for every embedded excel object in each Mathcad worksheet; VERY ANNOYING!  If there is a solution to this, please tell me.

However, I accepted the fact that there is no 'fix,' so (as an alternative) I developed a header/footer that uses PowerPoint.  This works great (no popup windows or nothing to date), BUT I've noticed that Computers with PowerPoint 2013 installed likes to INCREASE the size of the PowerPoint objects when the file was last saved on a computer with PowerPoint 2010 & Computers with PowerPoint 2010 installed likes to DECREASE the size of the PowerPoint objects when the file was last saved on a computer with PowerPoint 2013.  Is there a way to suppress this resize? Note that unchecking “Allow Object to Resize Itself" has no influence on this behavior.

============= SUMMARY: =============

1) Is it possible to Suppress Excel Windows From opening for Every Embedded Excel object?

2) Is it possible to suppress the 'resize' of an embedded PowerPoint object between computers w/ PowerPoint 2010 & 2013 installed?

3) If there is no solution for (1) or (2), is there another object that could be embedded to act as a header/footer? (msFlexTable doesn't work, InputTable lacks aesthetics and manipulation, Mathcad Matrixes lacks aesthetics and manipulation)

4) On a side note, is it possible to program the locations of embedded objects/regions?  I am familiar with the "x" and "y" properties of a region located in a Mathcad worksheet, but these properties are read-only, correct?  How would one proceed to automate moving a 'region' to a specific location (in vbscript)?

====================================

(NOTE: I have tried embedding a Mathcad object and that works fine for manipulation, but the aesthetics are poor and the runtime is too long.)

Thank you,

-Lemens

Is it possible to use the explicit keyword on functions?

$

Hello,

I’ve got Mathcad v15.

With the explicit keywords it’s easy to see your equation with the inserted variables.

But what about functions? I can’t do that.

For example: I want to calculate new yield stregthes according to different diameters with factors, which are received from a function.

example.png

Then I just have to replace d1 with d2 and so on.

The explicit operator don’t work:

Plotting a simple straight line in 3D

Hello...

I can't believe I have to ask...meaning that I can't figure this out, but here goes.

I have been trying to create a mock-up plot in 3D (x, y & z), and each thing I try I end up having to abandon. I don't need to spend a lot of time on this, so rather than try to make something work, I just keep 'dumbing it down' just for the sake of getting an end-result.

So, I have worked my way down the [difficulty] scale to where I am now, and I still can't accomplish what I need.....oh well.

What I am not trying to get done is to plot a simple straight line from the origin (0,0,0) out to some value.....which its value is immaterial to my goal.

If you plot a straight line of the form: y = mx + b, where m = 1 and b = 0, you get a nice line. I want the same thing, but in x, y & z space. For the life of me I can't get it. I think I've been at it too long.

Can anyone give a hamnd please?

Thank you

Grey screen with Mathcad 15 install

Due to a clean of my works laptop i have had to reinstall all my software. On installing Mathcad 15 M030 i get a full installation without any errors, however when i open mathcad the main text window appears grey with several white dashed lines running horizontal and evenly spaced down the page (see attached). When i type anything it does not appear. On opening some previous mathcad sheets, nothing is visible until you scroll down and you get flashes of the content behind this grey screen, hence everything is there but blocked by the grey screen.

I'm expected to be in a Client office tomorrow and will not be able to do anything without Mathcad..  help.

p.s. i tried installing Mathcad 14 & 15 M010 and got the same results. I'm assuming there is something missing from Windows 7 that it requires?

Matrix bracket and multiplication symbol are suddenly invisible

I am a user of MathCAD 15 (M020), and matrix bracket and multiplication symbol disappeared all of sudden. What's wrong? Is it related to the graphics setting? Although I uninstalled and re-installed MathCAD, it showed the same problem. I installed the same setup file in other computer, it works propely. It must be related to my computer's setting, or my laptop was attacked by virus?

Hello,

I'm trying to solve simultaneous equations in MathCad Prime 3.0, but all I get back from find(x,y)--> is find(x,y).  Is this a feature that is planning on being implemented or has been and I'm not aware of the correct syntax.  I know from the forums that it was not in 2.0.  http://communities.ptc.com/thread/39577

Bound a function on a plot of the same variable

$

Hello again community,

I have another question regarding the MathCad program.  This time it is regarding the bounding of multiple functions of the same variable.  Please see the attached spreadsheet.

I have notated on the side what the bounds of each function are for when it is true.  I can see that the functions look to be in the right direction for the problem.  I would however, like a neat way to bound each function on the graph so that TL is just on the negative side and TR is only on the right side of zero. I'm not sure if this is possible in the given format.

Any help is appreciated.

Possible Vector Output Error with a function

Hello,

I'm wondering if this is a ligitimate error, or if there is something I may be missing.  In the sheet you can see that I was trying to get a vector output from a vector input.  If the expression is factored, is it possible that this will not work?

Please see the attached sheet.

Mathcad Prime 3.0 READPRN not working properly

$

Hello,

I am having a trouble with the Mathcad Prime 3.0 function READPRN.

It is just a simple test atm. I first define a Matrix, write it to a file with WRITEPRN and then read it again with READPRN. It works fine as long I use standard two dimensional matrices. But I need it to write/read a matrix whose elements are matrices themselve ( I thinks its called nested matrix). Anyway, the WRITEPRN function works fine again, but the READPRN causes the Mathcad to crash most of the time. It shows me a windows error message saying "PTC Mathcad Prime 3.0 has stopped working" and gives me the option to close the pogram.

I would really appreciate some help on the this issue.

I am using:

Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64 bit

Mathcad Prime 3.0 64 bit (Trail Verison)

Attached is a example that is not working for me. (prn_ex)

EDIT: The second example is working. (prn_ex_working)

Thanks in advance

Eric
